The Revenue Manager will provide revenue recognition accounting guidance and coordination to support the Company's Sales Revenue Recognition Process by working with the Sales Group and the Operations Group, and other members of the Finance/Accounting team to manage and lead the revenue recognition accounting process, bookings and billings process. These functions will include among other related projects areas in managing and ensuring appropriate revenue accounting of all contract bookings, sales, marketing programs, channel relationships, and providing technical revenue support to Sales and other groups within the company. This position will have complete ownership of the Revenue and the Bookings and Billings Functions and will support the development of a world-class, scalable, global accounting team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly revenue recognition close process in accordance with the company policy and GAAP.
- Manage deferred revenue accounting and reconciliation.
- Develop and implement strong internal controls in the revenue recognition, bookings and billings process, including leading and developing revenue recognition rules and policies.
- Manage and lead the bookings and billings process.
- Drive systems and process improvements in the revenue recognition close process and in the bookings and billings process.
- Work with the Finance Manager and other members of the Finance/Accounting team in providing revenue reporting and analysis.
- Perform special projects as needed.
Position Qualifications:
- 4 to 8+ years work experience in accounting, including 3+ years in revenue accounting, preferably in a high growth media or internet company.
- Strong understanding of SOP 97-2 and SAB 101.
- Demonstrated initiative and success in leading and implementing and improving financial processes.
- Demonstrated strong management and project management skills.
- Highly skilled in revenue recognition accounting as well as applicability to specific transactions for a high growth company with complex product structure.
- Previous start-up/ramp up company experience ideal; preferably in the internet/online, or ecommerce, consumer interfacing products and/or services company.
- Strong process re-engineering and workflow management skills.
- High-energy, strong initiative, take charge/ownership mindset.
- Excellent follow-through and meticulous eye for detail.
- Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously and manage multiple deadlines, and work with grace under pressure.
- Advanced skills in the following areas are required: Microsoft Excel, Access, Pivot Tables.
