Position Summary:

The Technology Development Manager will lead a team of developers in addition to the code-level design and development of all technology in Account Management.  The successful candidate will be responsible for building out a world- class development team to deliver and integrate line of business applications.  In addition, he/she will be responsible for managing and shaping a team of talented software developers.  We're looking for a dynamic leader who will not only oversee the day-to-day operations of the group but also be a "culture-carrier" by exemplifying the ideals of the firm and cultivating these same ideals within the team.  The ideal candidate will have strong industry experience in application delivery, a solid foundation in problem solving, a pure passion for development, and a natural curiosity for exploring existing and new technologies.

 

Responsibilities would include:

·         Providing leadership, oversight, and career development for a team of eight or more employees

·         Mentoring and training staff on software development principles and processes (code level design, planning, estimation, defect tracking, use case development, etc.)

·         Creating a highly productive but controlled development environment and relentlessly improving upon our current software development processes

·         Participating in / leading the architecture process for enterprise applications and driving code-level design practices

·         Evaluating vendor offerings and determining the optimal mix of vendor and in-house solutions

·         Defining, establishing, and monitoring metrics to ensure quality standards of systems and team

·         Participating in the hiring process for the team (FTEs and consultants)

·         Proactively working with the team to identify issues and design appropriate solutions

·         Managing cross-department dependencies

·         Ensuring the delivery of quality product documentation

 

Position Requirements:

·         BS/BA Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a top university

·         At least eight years of software development experience with three or more years managing a development team

·         Experience with managing team(s) of at least six employees through multiple product releases (from inception to deployment)

·         Experience designing and implementing complex solutions with the following technologies: .Net, C#, Web Services, C and MS SQL relational databases

·         Well versed in modern development methodologies, object oriented and enterprise application design patterns, and UML

·         Experience delivering enterprise applications

·         Ability to gain the respect of the technology staff and have the gravitas to guide the team through to results

·         Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues with minimal oversight

·         Effectively communicates internally and externally to resolve issues

·         Strong problem solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly on-the-job

·         Works well in a dynamic, fast paced environment
