Sr Network Engineer
San Francisco

Responsibilities
- Serve as a network/security engineer in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Manage and expand high-volume load-balanced datacenter network environment serving millions of transactions a day
- Troubleshoot problems, proactively identify and resolve technical challenges
- Manage all network infrastructure including Cisco firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers
- Maintain LAN/WAN connectivity and services, make recommendations to enhance uptime, performance and reliability
- Ensure all network equipment is kept up to date with security patches and feature upgrades
- Triage and resolve issues by working collaboratively with team members and service providers
- Monitor network stability and performance and endure 24x7x365 operations. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Occasionally work evenings and weekends/holidays as required for emergency or regular off-hour maintenance periods
- Design and implement data center networks, with strong emphasis on comprehensive procedural documentation and maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of network operations experience
- BS degree or equivalent experience
- Design and implementation experience with routing protocols (BGP & OSPF)
- Thorough understanding of DNS/ BIND, TCP/IP protocol suite
- Significant experience with complex networking including architecture and highly detailed understanding of layers 1-4 and 7 of OSI stack, and security ((including broadcast/multicast concepts and routing)
- Very strong L2/switching experience and troubleshooting skills: (production LAN design, fully versed in networking concepts such as STP / RSTP / MSTP / PVST, ARP, VTP, QOS)
- Understanding of network security methodologies as a whole, including but not limited to: ACLs, ipfw / iptables, VPNs (tunneling, IPsec, PPTP, etc.)
- Experience with enterprise-level LAN / WAN network design and the ability to create useful documentation with Visio and other tools
- Fluency with common network admin and intrusion detection tools such as Snort, MRTG, Nagios, Ethereal/Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in implementing and operating multi-site, internet-facing, load-balanced production web environments.
- Strong Cisco experience: Netscaler and ACE load balancers, ASA/PIX firewalls, 65XX switches, 28xx-72xx routers
- Experience with installation and management of IDS/IPS, securing perimeter devices, and identifying network attacks
- Proficiency in Linux, Solaris, and Windows environments; administrative scripting skills (Perl, UNIX shell scripting)
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE,.) or equivalent experience
