Great opportunity for a researcher to build their digital media career on a unique research team at CBS.
With an analyst reporting to this position, the primary responsibility of this individual is to manage the primary research efforts for CBS Interactive’s Entertainment and Technology|Business|News digital brands. This includes designing, coordinating and implementing surveys, usability studies and focus groups among other approaches to measure market size, audience composition/segments, customer satisfaction and ad effectiveness. This individual will be involved in all aspects of primary research projects including designing, programming, data pulling and analysis, moderating, and building and presenting findings. This person will also recommend and manage third-party research vendors as required. In addition, this person will help guide research strategy working in partnership with product leads and business unit GMs to inform and drive product strategy. In addition, this person will work on industry level projects that provide executive management, sales and marketing teams with compelling audience and media evolution insights.
This individual also will use syndicated and secondary research sources such as @plan, comScore, Nielsen Online, MRI, TNS, AdRelevance, Hitwize, IDC, Forrester, etc. as well as internal traffic measurement tools to provide insights on our competitive position and marketplace trends tied to product/research strategy.
Finally, the research manager will be a curious, flexible, strong team player and manager capable of leveraging the broader CBS Interactive research and marketing teams to accomplish projects.
Job Responsibilities
• Design, program, manage, analyze and report on surveys
• Conduct usability studies, focus groups and other qualitative research
• Manage research vendors
• Partner with product teams to move their businesses forward
• Monitor, analyze and report on relevant syndicated and secondary research findings
• Utilize internal traffic reporting systems and tools
• Manage dedicated analyst
• Other duties as required to assist Director, Product Research
• Build strong working relationships with coworkers, direct reports (if applicable), customers (internally and external) and company manager.
• Quick learner who works fast, focused on data accuracy
• Outgoing, team-oriented relationship builder
• Comfortable presenting and communicating with broad teams
• Experience designing and conducting usability studies, including working with eyetracking tools, and moderating focus groups
• Experience with primary research analysis tools such as SPSS and with programming online surveys
• Solid quantitative/statistical background.
• Insightful analyst with excellent Excel and Powerpoint skills
• Experience working with syndicated research tools including Nielsen Online, comScore, @plan, HitWise, etc
• Must be well-organized and able to work on several detailed projects at once
• Interest in Entertainment, Technology, Business and News categories
• 5 years research work experience with BA or BS required or equivalent training and experience
