Sr. UX Designer

Teachscape is seeking a dynamic Sr. UX Designer with deep experience in visual design craftsmanship, combined with a keen ability to anticipate and address user needs. Senior UX Designer will be responsible for shaping the end-to-end user experience for various Teachscape applications. The Sr. UX Designer must be able to conceptualize user experiences and interfaces with superior clarity, ease of use, and visual balance. This individual will work closely with the developers, product management, instructional designers and other cross-functional stakeholders throughout all stages of the product lifecycle to develop creative solutions to complex problems, and proactively propose improvements to the existing products.


Responsibilities

• Direct visual appearance and user experiences of all features and enhancements, with a strong focus on simplicity, manageability and user-friendliness

• Ensure that designs conform to established company-wide guidelines and standards

• Design elegant solutions to complex workflows

• Work from product requirements to deliver detailed design specs allowing software engineers to implement new features

• Create wireframes, polished screen mockups, icons, and other deliverables

• Collaborate with product management and engineering throughout the product lifecycle to actively plan, problem-solve, and ensure successful launch of services

• Maintain active knowledge of and implement user-center design best practices

• Investigate and understand the ongoing performance of services with respect to user-friendliness and maintain a prioritized list of recommended design enhancements.


Qualifications

• Academic background in graphic design, human-computer interaction, interaction design, or related field


• In depth knowledge of User Interface design principles, Human Factors, User-Centered Design Processes, Interaction Design guidelines, usability testing methodologies, web-industry standards and trends

• 3+ years of experience in a user-centered design environment, including writing design specifications for a software as a service business

• Expert level skills with Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, and Flash

• Knowledge of coding HTML, CSS, and JavaScript 

• Knowledge of skinning Flex components

• Ability to articulate concepts and ideas through low- and high-fidelity prototypes

• Experience with user testing is preferred

• Demonstrated success at working effectively with cross-functional teams

• Start up experience a plus

• Experience with the scrum development process desirable

• Experience with the e-learning and the educational market desirable
