Summary: Tonic is seeking a Marketing Professional to guide us to become the world’s leading destination for effortless social activism. The company is seeking a Director of Marketing to drive all of marketing for all Tonic products. Based in Palo Alto, California, Tonic will provide the resources, team and vision to allow the right candidate to thrive and make a difference in the world.
Description
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for the success of tonic.com by leading the strategy, development, and execution of all new traffic-generating, customer acquisition, and engagement marketing programs for all current and future Tonic products. The position will be filled by a highly skilled Internet marketer with a strong background in Web sales, owning a broad range of sales and customer acquisition efforts, managing all advertising starting from initial pre-sale awareness through customer conversion, engagement, and merchandising. This position will own creative development, agency management, customer research, and all online and offline programs, and will be responsible for managing a budget and setting and hitting quarterly customer acquisition and upgrade goals. The person in this position should be very results-driven and hands-on, have a high degree of energy, enjoy being focused on both strategic and operational excellence, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. This person will manage external agencies and one (current) direct report.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Test and optimize current traffic-driving and customer acquisition channels, including SEM, PPC, SEO, affiliates, affinity group outreach, and SMM; experience with ecommerce a plus
• Create, test, and explore creative, new, and scalable customer acquisition programs.
• Work with the product team to identify and deploy programs to increase customer conversions and cart size.
• Own all customer communications via the site and email.
• Develop content for Blogs, communities, reviews and loyalty retention programs.
• Own all merchandising efforts, and all upgrade/upsell offers.
• Own an annual budget, set and manage to quarterly forecasts and goals, and manage all reporting against those goals.
Experience Required/Qualifications & Skills
• 7+ years consumer marketing experience, with 2-3 years of experience in developing and executing online direct marketing programs (SEM, SEO, PPC, Affiliates) focusing on customer awareness and acquisition
• Experience in ecommerce a big plus
• Experience managing customer email campaigns and working with external email vendors
• Extreme focus on numbers and results, strong analytical capabilities, the ability to think both strategically and tactically, and excellent general business acumen and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, agile, passionate startup environment
• BA/BS in a marketing or business-related, MBA preferred
• Sense of humor absolutely required
