(Job ID BE645587) The search group with our client is actively working on a number of interesting IR problems and is looking for people who can take a lead role in one or more of the following areas: information retrieval, text classification, machine learning, collaborative filtering and data mining. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background in IR combined with successful hands-on experience developing and deploying large-scale, real-world systems.

Our client is looking for a dynamic Principal Search Architect to join their our top-notch development team and continually innovate and improve their e-commerce platform.

Responsibilities:

  • will work as part of a fast-paced web team and should be able to effectively lead and work in a team environment
  • will be behind the development and deployment of complex Web applications

Qualifications:

  • must have recent experience with in-house, open source or commercial IR systems
  • must have significant experience with high traffic, database-driven Web applications
  • must have significant experience with large scale, high performance systems
  • must have a strong background with Object-oriented design and implementation
  • must have a strong background in relational database design
  • must have experience with SQL, Oracle, JDBC, J2EE application servers, JSP and servlets
  • must have a minimum 8 years experience in software development with at least 3 year in Java programming
  • must have good communication skills
  • must have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science from a reputed US University
  • must be able to effectively lead and work in a team environment
  • must have a strong background in statistics
  • should have significant research experience in information retrieval, machine learning, or a related field
  • should have demonstrated contribution to a large-scale web search or e-commerce application
  • should have well-rounded experience with an emphasis on backend/server development
  • must have a passion for building great software
