Job Description:
The CBS Interactive Product Research Department is responsible for the analytical and consultative support of client, brand and product initiatives. The Director, Product Research is responsible for managing initiatives that support product, editorial, and management stakeholders from all CBS Interactive brands including CNET, CBS.com, TV.com, GameSpot, CBSNews.com, CBSSports.com, BNET, ZDNet, and others. This position develops clear and actionable research solutions focusing on a wide-range of user-based research options, builds relationships with key stakeholders, and provides relevant consultation in order to provide intelligence to support informed decision-making. This position is also involved in the development of overall strategic vision for individual brands and CBS Interactive as a whole, and is responsible for enacting positive change within the organization. The position reports into the Vice President, Research of CBS Interactive and is located in San Francisco, CA. In addition, this position will be responsible for managing a product research team including two research managers and two research analysts.

Key Responsibilities:
Works in concert with product teams to understand product development needs
Develops holistic research solutions to answer business questions
Constructs and executes primary research initiatives, including user testing and survey work
Drive change through leadership skills in making product, brand, or user strategy recommendations
Builds analyses and delivers findings and recommendations to key stakeholders
Works with outside vendors and contractors to provide support to key initiatives
Assesses new research products in the marketplace for CBS Interactive use
Continually innovates research approach including questionnaire/guide design, survey delivery, and sampling methodology
Tracks events and developments in the industry that impact CBS Interactive key initiatives
Monitors third party research for insights into business drivers impacting CBS Interactive
Creates processes and solutions for information dissemination
Manages the project queue and team to prioritize projects based on alignment with business unit and corporate goals
Responsible for developing skill sets and mapping out career paths of direct reports
Actively participates in strategic meetings at the business unit level that guide the direction of our brands and products
Champion a user-driven culture by actively integrating consumer insights into product development and marketing strategy

Qualifications:
10 years in field of marketing research
Degree in statistics or equivalent training and work experience
Excellent team managerial and leadership skills
Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail
Understanding of internet architecture and design principles
Skilled at constructing and conducting actionable quantitative and qualitative research including cluster analyses, segmentations, and weighting schemes.
Ability to translate complicated data constructs and analytics into actionable business recommendations
Exceptional verbal and written communication/presentation skills
Proficient in SPSS, SAS, Excel, Power Point, MicroStrategy, Offermatica, and Tobii
Experience with secondary online research vendors such as Nielsen Online and ComScore
Experience with research vendors to provide customized work such as Harris Interactive, ORC, or Millward Brown
Education: MBA preferred
