Job Description:
CBS Interactive is seeking a Python Software Engineer to take a lead role in the development and maintenance of a popular comparison shopping site. He or she will work with a small and close-knit team of engineers who are passionate about building great products. The culture is informal, intense, and rewarding for the right individual. The team maintains and operates the sites they develop, so pager duty is part of the job. You must be able to multi-task, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines. Key skills include: thorough understanding of Python, with a good familiarity with the basics of web technologies (mySQL/Apache/CSS/Javascript etc). Experience with Perl, PHP or other languages is a plus.

Qualifications:
· 4 years of programming experience, including 2 years with python
· Experience with Django framework desired
· Linux and Apache administration experience required
· Experience with search indexes (Lucene, Solr) and databases (MySQL) is preferred
· Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to install and update and configure Linux tools and patches
· Excellent problem-solving, prioritization and organizational skills
· Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and experience
· Experience with perl, php, java & xml is strongly desired as other tools and sites we interact with are written in these languages
· Experience with javascript & ajax is a plus
· Understanding of high-availability web site operations and willingness to cover shifts on pager-duty is required
