IT Manager

Our client in NYC has an immediate full-time opportunity for an IT Manager.
The main objective of this position is to lead the Company*s technology function. This position works with external firms to manage, maintain and update IT environment to support the Consultants in the field, Corporate Staff, existing hardware/software environment, while also recommending and introducing new technology to support the company's changing needs.
* While no subordinates report to this role, this position does manage vendor relationships and IT projects independently.
* The Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the IT function, as well as project-based work and the introduction of new technology.
* The Engineer must be able to effectively interface with the Management team to understand needs and communicate progress/status on IT related initiatives.
Functional Responsibilities
* Manage IT vendors to update and maintain servers with a focus on Active Directory/Exchange/SharePoint, security and network related issues
* Oversee scheduled backups of data on servers for business continuity and evaluates and modifies business continuity procedures
* Provide application support and development services as needed (SQL Server/SRS/Excel/MS-Access, etc.)
* Evaluate and determine workstation configurations and mobile communication standards
* Actively monitor the IT environment
* Assist in evaluating, planning, and determining new projects as well as being responsible for project execution
Must be able to proactively create and update all relevant software & documentation on a regular basis
Recommend use of new technology as appropriate
Establish and implement appropriate Information Security standards
Qualifications and Experience
* Completion of a related degree, plus (MCSE) Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Citrix Admin (CCA/CCEA) certification with relevant work skills and 5-7 years of experience in 10+ server environment. Experience supporting professional services firm with dispersed workforce not required but desired.
* Expert knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
* Expert knowledge of the following technologies (asterisk denotes priority requirements, knowledge and experience)
* Microsoft Exchange*
* Active Directory *
* SharePoint*
* Communication technologies such as WAN/LAN/Wireless LAN*
* Blackberry Enterprise Server *
* Citrix
* VBA
* SQL Reporting Services
* SQL server
* Symantec Backup Exec
* Symantec AV
* Procure IT contract resources as necessary to support company initiatives, monitor contractor/consultant performance in accordance with specifications
*Moderate travel may be required
