The Microsoft Application Virtualization team (formerly the SoftGrid team) located in Cambridge, MA is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test for application virtualization and streaming technologies.  Potential candidates for the position will have experience in automation development, virtualization technologies, application compatibility, strong testing and technical expertise, good problem solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a fast paced team environment.

Core Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
  Working with Program Management and Development to design and develop Application Virtualization.
  Delivering on test specs, test plans, test cases, and other documentation.
  Providing actionable bug reports and generally driving quality of product and test code.
  Ability to effectively design, develop and maintain high quality test code and test infrastructure is key, especially as the team migrates to Windows test technologies.
  Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple outstanding tasks.
 
To succeed in this opportunity qualified candidates must have a strong history of technical problem solving, have demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into user benefits, knowledge of product development processes, and ability to effectively influence and work with Program Management and Development.  Candidates also need to show strong technical leadership, excellent project management skills, ability to work with remote development teams, and good cross-boundary and collaboration skills in working with partners and customers.  Qualified candidates should be able to create and execute upon solid test strategies across many aspects of the product including integration, scenario level testing, and horizontal feature testing.  Strong knowledge of and experience with test automation techniques and testing tools is required, and knowledge of more advanced testing methodologies such as model based testing is a plus.

Skill Set:
  A solid understanding of Windows architecture, programming, debugging
  Strong coding skills in C/C++ and/or C# and experience developing software on Windows platforms.
  3+ years testing experience, including at least one complete product cycle.
  BS or Masters in Computer Science or comparable experience in the software industry.
  Experience working with virtualization technologies, client and server applications, SQL, Active Directory, and SCCM is strongly desired.
