Microsoft Application Virtualization (“App-V”) is the pioneering application virtualization software for enterprise application management. The App-V Product Team is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to join the Sustained Engineering (SE) group based in Cambridge, MA. This is a challenging position, in a small, fast paced team environment to take a leadership role in maintaining and improving the App-V product by delivering service pack releases, hot fixes, security updates, other out-of-band improvements, and tools to customers.
As the Development Lead, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the SE Development Team and for defining and implementing development processes and guidelines to effectively service the App-V product. You will also work closely with other parts of the product team to drive product and process improvements informed by in-depth root cause analysis, supportability and customer experience. You will leverage your working knowledge of OS internals, C++, and Windows and will be working closely with engineers both within the SE team and across the broader product.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Recruiting, mentoring and maintaining a high performance team
· Working closely with other teams in Customer Support, Test, and Program Management
· Driving sound triage, investigation and resolution of critical customer issues
· Ensuring that bug fixes and product improvements meet quality, performance, scale, and manageability requirements
· Initiating, promoting and implementing engineering best practices, with special focus on root cause analysis
· Project planning and tracking for your team
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of team leadership with 6+ years of overall software engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of design and implementation in C++, Windows/OS Internals, and the Win 32 API. Exceptionally strong problem solving and debugging skills are a must as is a solid understanding of Windows applications development, kernel level development and debugging tools. Strong communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills are also required along with skills in cross-team collaboration. A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, related field or the equivalent in education and experience is required.
