Linden Lab is seeking a Creative Services Web Developer to bridge the gap where function meets form in all things web, UI, and design-related. This is a core role in the Creative Services team, working with our Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams on an equal basis. This is the perfect position for a designer with non-trivial web scripting skills, or for a web developer with solid fundamental design and UI skills. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team, so absolute expertise in every area is not required -- but the candidate must demonstrate mastery in one or more areas related to web design/development, with the desire and ability to delve deeper when required. The ideal candidate will have experience working with stakeholders of various stripes from executives to engineers, possessing the ability to work independently and self manage on projects of varying scope. Candidates must be comfortable juggling multiple projects and collaborating with different teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. 

Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities will be determined according to the specific candidate's skill set, but will include some combination of the following:

    * Develop, (re)design, and maintain an ever-growing collection of Second Life web sites, tools, and features

    * Develop, (re)design, and maintain UI elements between the Second Life viewer and related web properties

    * Interpret web metrics and traffic/user reports, and apply knowledge accordingly

    * Ensure brand consistency and UI/style consistency across all materials

Qualifications:

Need to have: 

    * Minimum 5 years work experience in web design/development
    * Deep experience with web development technologies, including (D)HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Smarty, XML, Javascript

    * Expert knowledge of Adobe CS

    * Sophisticated aesthetic sense

    * Thorough knowledge of UI, human factors, and usability principles

    * Keen understanding of web standards and cross-platform/browser issues

    * Knowledge of Flash and ActionScript
    * Knowledge of version management tools (svn, cvs, or similar)
    * Excellent communication skills, with an ability to clearly articulate complex design problems and solutions

    * Excellent time management and organizational skills

    * Impeccable attention to detail

    * Proven ability to learn quickly

    * A resume and online portfolio demonstrating all of the above

Good To Have:

    * Knowledge of Second Life's history and culture, with an articulated interest in new forms of 3D entertainment and social spaces

    * Experience with web analytic tools

    * Understanding of REST and web service-oriented architecture

    * Experience with open source Content Management Systems (Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, etc.)

    * Formal background in design theory and fundamentals
