Sr. Software Engineer - Search Engine Development

Brief Description:
We are looking for an extremely capable Search Technologist to be a key contributor to our Team of software developers. This individual will leverage years of experience and expertise in high volume storage, indexing, and searching to help architect, scale, and optimize the engines and API's behind vertical search applications.  Experience with search engines such as FAST, Xapian or Lucene is important in considering a candidate for this position.

This Team focuses on external and internal search technology on the most popular social networking site on the Web. Providing robust back ends for these diverse offerings will offer countless challenges to any seasoned software professional. A wonderful work environment and a fun senior team of developers round out the overall opportunity.

Responsibilities:
Lead architectural advancements in search infrastructure.
Optimize and scale existing storage and search infrastructures.
Unify and simplify storage and search API's for use in varied applications.
Communicate effectively both within engineering and product development.
Guide other engineers in design, prototypes, and development of search components.


Requirements:
Several years experience implementing search solutions with a well known search engine.

Several years professional experience with C/C++ or C#.

Several years experience with Java and J2EE development methodologies is a plus.

Experience with high performance server application development.

A solid understanding of Object Oriented best practices

Understanding of TCP/IP networking and higher level client server protocols

Experience with relational databases such as SQL is required.

Qualifications:

3+ years of C/C++ or C# and ASP.NET experience is required.

3+ years of MS SQL Server development experience with T/SQL is also required.

Any experience with AJAX, Web Services, XML, XSL, XSLT, SOAP, Javascript, CSS, HTML, DHTML, XHTML, etc. would also be a plus.
