The Walt Disney Company is looking for Managers in the Tax Planning & Compliance Group located in Glendale, California.
The Opportunity
The Corporate Tax team is one where managers are challenged to demonstrate an ongoing awareness of changes in tax law, an understanding of opportunities that arise out of serving as a center of expertise, and the proven ability to apply critical thinking to connect these to each other. Additionally, managers are responsible for the professional development, motivation, and retention of employees, as well as the effective interface with various levels of segment controllership.
Overall Responsibilities
· Develop an in-depth understanding of the business operations of a major reporting segment and a strong professional working relationship with financial and accounting management within that segment.
· Provide analytical support for tax planning, after-tax performance measurement, legislative impact analysis, and tax controversy group.
· Review computations and workpapers for tax returns and tax provisions, and review federal and state corporate income tax estimates, extensions, and returns for a diverse group of businesses conducting multi-national operations.
· Develop an understanding of the structure, functionality, and reporting capabilities of the corporate general ledger system and key tax software applications.
· Work with various tax, business, and accounting personnel throughout the company to obtain and analyze data needed for tax compliance.
· Research income tax compliance-related matters.
· Prepare presentations and reports for upper management.
The Ideal Background
Education
· Bachelor's degree required
· CPA, JD, or advanced tax degree strongly preferred
Work Experience & Qualifications
· Minimum six years of federal and state corporate tax experience
· Technical competency in corporate tax and compliance issues
· Current on business trends in the media and Fortune organizations with multiple lines of business
· Strong professional communication skills in group and individual settings; ability to prepare and deliver formal written and oral presentations
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills
