Developer Community Manager

Position Summary:

·        Serve as a community advocate for mobile and web developers to interact with Palm, including listening and actively understanding developer opinions and input.

·        Facilitate bidirectional information between development community and Palm engineering and marketing.

·        Listen and respond to developer communications on forums on palm.com as well as other locations on the web.

·        Leverage collaborative, Web 2.0 technologies to monitor feedback and communicate with community members.

·        Build on knowledge of and experience with web technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript, to help developers find resources, and resolve technical issues.  

·        Work across organization to help implement world class online developer community.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

·        Monitor primary locations where developers are discussing technical and business aspects with Palm’s developer approach.

·        Communicate Palm’s position and capabilities, rapidly and consistently to ensure accurate, authentic information.  Use forums, and other communication mechanisms including blogs, microblogging and rss to ensure developers can easily consume information from Palm.

·        Provide information and resources to developers to help address technical questions.   Information may include links to or the creation of technical documents, samples, or code snippets

·        Engage with developers by responding to their requests both in private and in public.

·        Share developer community feedback and issues as needed with internal teams and external community members.

·        Help shape Palm’s developer portal by providing ongoing feedback and input.

 

 

Knowledge & Skills:

·        Exceptional communication skills, especially in writing.

·        Ability to manage multiple projects and conversations simultaneously, without letting any balls drop.

·        Capable of responding to community issues extremely quickly, and able to escalate issues as needed to ensure prompt responses.

·        Deep understanding and experience with all forms of developer communication, including blogs, pod/screencasts, forums, chat, and microblogging.

·        Strong web programming experience with technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript  

·        Cross-functional communicator and team player.

·        Previous experience actively participating in a developer community.
