OBJECTIVE:

Saavn is seeking a talented client services developer to join our engineering team.

COMPANY:

Saavn acquires, packages, distributes and markets South Asian content including “Bollywood” movies, music and television shows on digital “on-demand” platforms across cable, broadband and mobile. Saavn is the largest distributor of South Asian digital content in the world and has exclusive content relationships with the leading movie, music and television content owners in India as well as key distribution relationships with Time Warner, Cox, Rogers, iTunes, Google Video, Amazon, Verizon, Sprint, etc. for digital content distribution. Saavn has been featured on press in CNN, NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, Variety, Forbes, Cable World and Multichannel New.  SAAVN is headquartered in New York, NY.

TITLE: 

Client Services Developer


RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Developing and executing business and technical requirements for various clients/partnerships related projects.

* Coding and testing PHP/MySQL web applications.

* Developing new products and features from the ground up using PHP, Ajax, Web/REST services and other cutting edge technologies.

* Collaborate with others on design, development, testing, documentation and production support tasks.

* Write clean and well documented code.

* Improving and monitoring application availability (apache, mysql).


QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 3 years experience building scalable, robust, highly available, high performing web applications using PHP and MySQL.

* Solid experience with cross-platform, browser compliant (X)HTML and CSS, DHTML/Javascript, AJAX, JSON, and other Web 2.0 technologies.

* In-depth knowledge and experience of Web Services and REST Services.

* Adaptability into new technologies and platforms

* Must be proficient working in Linux environment.

* Must have strong understanding of relational database concepts including SQL, indexes, transactions and writing software that communicates with a database.

* Strong sense of usability, and can create clean “release-ready” pages with limited designer support.

* Strong attention paid to browser consistency, user-experience, and strict implementation of design and UI specs.

* Prior experience working directly with clients/partners, familiarity with SEO concepts, experience with Flash are real pluses.

* Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.

* Ability to plan ahead and meet appropriate deadlines.

* Proactive in identifying inefficiencies in development pipeline and proposing sensible solutions.  

* Interest in South Asian media.
